A 2-4 week study abroad program to the UK was planned for the summer of 2019. During this time, four days of study and three days of excursions were scheduled each week so that we could experience the UK to the fullest while studying. There were adults and high school students on this trip, and the workshops were separate studies.
On the learning side, two Cambridge University professors of children's theater, a language and literature teacher, a creative writing teacher, and a history teacher led us through an in-depth exploration of theater, literature, and writing. By participating in various drama activities and workshops, we not only improved our English language skills, but also enhanced our self-confidence and expression. The interactive and creative nature of drama education made language learning more lively and interesting, and enabled us to acquire more practical language skills in real-life applications.
The creative writing course was also a highlight of the study. Under the guidance of professional instructors, we tried out various writing techniques, stimulated creative thinking and improved our writing skills. From short stories to poetry writing, each lesson was full of inspiration and challenges. By sharing and discussing our work, we not only received valuable feedback, but also developed a sensitivity and love for words.
In addition, we enjoyed some literary classics and gained a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical context behind the works. From Shakespeare's plays to modern literature, each classic brought us deep thoughts and inspiration. Under the guidance of our tutors, we conducted detailed textual analysis, learned to interpret literary works from different perspectives, and enhanced our literary literacy and critical thinking skills.
In addition to studying, we also made full use of our three-day excursion to visit the famous monuments and scenic spots in the UK. From Tower Bridge to Oxford University, from the British Museum to the Scottish Highlands, every place left us with laughter and precious memories. These excursions not only enriched our insights, but also gave us a better understanding of British culture and history.
